The US National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will convene experts to develop a framework for evaluating global anthropogenic greenhouse gas information to provide guidance for national and international policy makers for use in their decision making. This study is being conducted on an accelerated timeline in order to inform COP27 discussions in November 2022. To ensure robust deliberations, they are seeking multiple forms of input in a short period of time: nominations for committee members, technical input, and workshop participation.Â
As a part of the study, there will be two public opportunities to engage the international community of scientists and stakeholders who are contributors to and users of global greenhouse gas information. The interactive workshop will include discussions about needs, challenges, and opportunities related to meeting the needs of stakeholders; developing independent, transparent, and comparable greenhouse gas information; understanding and addressing biases in data, models, and analytic frameworks; and synthesis and integration of the best available information. More information will be made available on the project website and to registrants closer to the event.
