Since January 2017 the GYA is hosted and legally represented by the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina.
Before, between 2011 and 2016, the Global Young Academy had its office under the umbrella of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW).
