Chioma Daisy Onyige is a Professor of Criminology at the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. She is Sociologist by training and a multidisciplinary researcher by choice. She acquired a PhD in Sociology with specialisation in Criminology, Police Science and Social Work, from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Her research interests lie in the areas of gender and crime and environmental sociology. Her recent research looks at economic globalisation and human trafficking in Nigeria. She is a member of American Society of Criminology (ASC), European Society of Criminology (ESC), British Society of Criminology (BSC), African Criminology and Justice Association (ACJA), Academy of Criminal Justice Science (ACJS), International Sociological Association (ISA, and an Associate Member of the Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD).She has several academic publications both in International and local peer reviewed journals. Dr Onyige has presented several papers in both and international conferences. She is a Fellow of the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva, Switzerland. She is also a fellow of the Rachel Carson Centre for Environment and Society, Munich, Germany; a Fellow of the African Science Leadership Programme, University of Pretoria, South Africa; a Commonwealth Fellow at the African Studies Center, University of Oxford, UK; a fellow of the Global Young Academy (GYA), German National Academy of Sciences, Leopoldina, Germany; and a Fellow, Kate Hamburger Kolleg “Law as Culture” Center for Advanced studies, University of Bonn, Germany; and a Heinz Heinen Senior Fellow at the Cluster of Excellence, Bonn Center for Dependency and Slavery Studies, University of Bonn, Germany.
