Biography
Prof. Praveen Kumar is an Associate Professor at Plaksha University, Mohali, and formerly served at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), Kolkata. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics from IIT Delhi and completed his Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship at ISOM, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain. He currently leads a project under the National Quantum Mission (Quantum Materials and Devices vertical) and several other competitive grants, including SERB-CRG, DAE, SRG, and the INSPIRE Faculty Award. His research focuses on III–V semiconductors, two-dimensional materials, MXenes, and carbon nanostructures for energy harvesting, storage, and next-generation quantum devices. Prof. Kumar is a recipient of several prestigious honors, including the Fulbright-Nehru Professional Excellence Fellowship (2023), MRSI Medal (2021), DAE Young Achiever Award (2019), MCAA Societal Impact Award (2019), and the BRICS Young Scientist Award (2017). He has authored over 110 peer-reviewed publications, holds four patents, contributed 11 book chapters, and delivered more than 95 invited talks worldwide. He is a member of the Global Young Academy (GYA), NASI, and INYAS, and actively contributes to global policy initiatives supporting early-career researchers. He also serves on the editorial boards of Materials Letters, Materials Letters-X (Elsevier), and Nanotechnology (IOP Publishing), and previously chaired the Career Development Working Group of the Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA).
