Biography

Alma is a chemist turned Science-Policy Interface Practitioner leading science advising efforts in Mexico. She has experience in the legislative and executive branches, and has coordinated the first program of Science-Policy Interface fellows in the region.

Pharmaceutical Chemistry Biologist from the Metropolitan Autonomous University, Master in Neuropharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics and doctor in Scientific and Technological Development for Society, degrees awarded by Cinvestav. She also studied Law at the UNAM Law School. It is a pioneer in Mexico in the study, practice and design of courses on Science-Policy Interface and government science advice. Member of the Steering Committee of LatinAmerican Chapter of the International Network for Government Scientific Advice (INGSA). Alma is a co-founder of the Mexican Association for the Advancement of Science (AMEXAC). She is currently a visiting professor at the Center for Research and Advanced Studies (CINVESTAV).
