Biography

Dr. Veda Krishnan is a nutritional biochemist working as a senior scientist at the Division of Biochemistry, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, India. She has earned her undergraduate dual degree (Botany & Biotechnology) from Kerala University, her post-graduate degree in Biotechnology from CUSAT, Kerala, and her doctorate from BDU, Trichy, India. Her research career started at Nanyang Technological University(NTU), Singapore as a research exchange student and later associated with various reputed organizations (SCTIMST, Kerala; IGIB, New Delhi; CIRCOT Mumbai). She completed her post-doctoral research at Whistler Center for Carbohydrate Research, Purdue University, USA as a Fulbright Fellow. As a team leader of ‘Food Matrix Lab’, her active interest is in enhancing global human health by contributing to food and nutrition research, bio-functional foods, and innovative processes. She has published more than seventy-five (75) articles in journals of international repute, 10 book chapters, has a granted Indian patent and developed various food prototypes of commercial value. In addition to research being a faculty of the post-graduate school, IARI she is active in mentoring students and researchers. Her scientific recognition includes Fulbright-Nehru Post-doctoral research fellowship (2021-22), Plantae fellow of ASPB (2020), INSA-INYAS secretary (2023-2025), INYAS member (2021), Innovator award 2021 at flora-fauna summit, Young Woman Scientist Award (2019), IASc-INSA-NASI Summer Research Fellowship (2019), Young Scientist Award (201& 2018) and Faculty excellence EET-Expo Edu Award (2015). She is a scienfluencer and has an organic passion for science outreach.
