Biography

I received my PhD in Performance Studies from New York University in 2016. After spending a year at NYU as a Core Curriculum Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow, I joined the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Vienna as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. In 2019-2020, I was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at Sabancı University. My work on Turkey’s minoritarian performance cultures  culminated in my ERC Starting Grant project “Staging National Abjection: Theater and Politics in Turkey and Its Diasporas,” which I conduct at the University of Milan. I am also a playwright, dramaturg, and dramatic translator.
