Eyad Hamad

Biography

Dr Hamad is Vice Dean and Associate Professor in Biomedical Engineering at the German Jordanian University, which is modeled on the German universities of applied sciences, characterized by their focus on putting knowledge into practice and on promoting knowledge transfer.

He completed his PhD in 2011 at the Nanotechnology and Integrated Bioengineering Centre (NIBEC) at the University of Ulster, researching the impedimetric sensor for label-free point-of-care immunoassay cardiac marker systems as Laboratory-on-a-Chip devices in the field of Nanotechnology.

Dr. Hamad received Marie Curie Early Stage Training Fellowship to conduct his PhD as a collaboration project between the University of Ulster, UK and INSA-Lyon, France.

In 2007, he worked as a research assistant at the Nanotechnology and Integrated Bioengineering Centre (NIBEC) at the University of Ulster, his research area in the area of Development of point-of-care (POC) diagnostics for global health initiatives, and to obtain a better understanding of the fundamental problems in life science. This includes a portable, low cost assay instrument to replace the clinical lab approach to acute myocardial infract (AMI) assay using the principles of Microsystems nanotechnology and impedance spectroscopy.

He has special interest in MEMS techniques, Lab-on-a-Chip, Point-of-Care systems, Semiconductor fabrications, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, Microfluidics and Neural Network and Bioinformatics. Dr. Hamad is a member of several associations such as Jordan Engineers Association (JEA), Jordan, Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK and Verein Deutscher Ingenieure (VDI), Germany.
