Biography

Dr. Lim Boon Han graduated as Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy majoring in optical engineering from University Technology of Malaysia. He has engaged in research and engineering works for 20 years, especially in the field of solar energy (full supply chain of photovoltaic technology, solar tracking, non-imaging focusing technology and concentrating solar thermal energy) and laser optics. He had worked in Malaysia University of Science and Technology (MUST), University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), University Yangzhou, Dalian Polytechnic University and now he is working in University Tunku Abdul Rahman. He had also involved in the industry for ten years where he was a chief technical officer of a few companies. Dr. Lim has designed more than 40MW of solar power plants and led more than 40 research projects, with total funding more than USD60 millions. He is a member of GYA, a member of IET, a member of IEEE, a companion member of IEM and a member of International Solar Energy Society. He is a reviewer for Applied Energy, Solar Energy, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Review. With the experiences he gained both in academic and industrial, cross-disciplinary of photovoltaic (PV), solar thermal, laser optics (Gravitational Wave Detection) and material science, as well as with almost full supply chain of photovoltaic technology, his present and future research is focused on comprehensive (full supply chain) solar photovoltaic power plant optimization, low-cost smart module, building integrated PV system, increase the total efficiency of CPV (including thermal energy), carbon emission reduction and energy efficiency products.
