Tsukuba Conference 2021: Inclusive Innovation for New Normal

This year’s Tsukuba Conference will be a hybrid event held online (September 21 – 27) and at the Tsukuba International Congress Center (September 28 – 30).

In July 2017, the Tsukuba Conference Organizing Council decided to create a new forum for future shapers—talented young leaders from industry, government and academia worldwide—and named it the “Tsukuba Conference.”

The purpose of the Tsukuba Conference is to bring together future shapers beyond all borders to facilitate discussion among them. It provides them with the opportunity to express their vision of the future and to meet their collaborators. Tsukuba Science City is the venue for this new forum. It is home to a few hundred research institutes hosting more than 20,000 researchers.

In cooperation with the Young Academy of Japan, GYA member Yoko Shimpuku (Hiroshima University, Japan) has facilitated the inclusion of early career researchers in planned Nobel Laureates sessions and Future Shapers sessions.

GYA Co-Chair Roula Inglesi-Lotz (University of Pretoria, South Africa) will give a keynote talk at the opening ceremony and many other GYA members have (co-)organised plenary and parallel sessions, among other topics on science diplomacy and strategic forsight.
