Muhammad Zaffar Hashmi

Biography

Dr. Muhammad Zaffar Hashmi obtained Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Zhejiang University, China. He is expert of Environmental Science at The University of Lahore. Dr. Hashmi has served as Distinguish Visiting Professor at NIDA Thailand and Professor at School of Resource and Civil Engineering, Northeastern University China. Dr. Hashmi has the prestige of being Fellow and member of several academies and professional bodies, including Fellow of Pakistan Academy of Sciences, Fellow of Society of Environmental Geochemistry and Health and Society of Toxicology. Dr. Hashmi worldwide known for the development of treatment technologies to control pollution; to understand toxicology mechanisms of e-waste and to develop novel methods for monitoring of pollution. For the first time, Dr. Hashmi isolated novel microbes (Dehalococcoides spp.,) and genes (bphC) which have the ability to degrade the e-waste pollutants in short time. These novel microbes and technologies improve the quality of environment and public health. Dr. Hashmi is editor-in-chief of two book series: Emerging Contaminants and Associated Treatment Technologies by Springer and Advances in Pollution Research by Elsevier. Dr. Hashmi published 16 books with Springer and 2 books with Elsevier, 27 book chapters and 130 papers having a cumulative impact factor of 570+ and h-index=32 (Web of Science), h- index=35 (Googlescholar). His honors include Mustafa Science and Technology Foundation Iran award KANs Prize in Environment and Water (OIC Countries), Fulbright Postdoctoral Scholarship, Gold Medal from Pakistan Academy of Sciences, Prof. A.K. Shakoori Gold Medal and 3rd Prof. Dr. Farhat Jabeen Gold Medal in Toxicology etc. Dr. Hashmi organized international workshop through Society of Environmental Geochemistry and Health platform. Delivered several talks as keynote speaker and invited speaker in international and national conferences. He is Associate Editor and Editorial team member of several prestigious journals including, Environmental Geochemistry and Health, Arabian Journal of Geosciences and Chemosphere etc. He was awarded research grants as Principal Investigator and in collaboration from TWAS, HEC, PSF, PAS and NSF China.
