Hussain Wahedi

Biography

Dr. Hussain Mustatab Wahedi is an Associate Professor and head of the Healthcare Biotechnology department at the National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST), Pakistan. He is also serving as a Visiting Professor in the College of Pharmacy at Gachon University, South Korea. Dr. Wahedi did his Ph.D. in the field of Regenerative Medicine from Gachon University of Medicine and Science, South Korea. His major research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of skin tissue damage and skin aging and identifying potential cellular targets for regeneration and rejuvenation of skin tissue. The current research interest of Dr. Wahedi’s group is to identify potential drugs and targets for delayed wound healing in diabetics and to extend it to chronic wound and burn wound patients. Dr. Wahedi has reported novel drug candidates for wound healing in both normal and diabetic conditions. He authored several peer-reviewed research articles in reputed research journals and registered 4 patents in the field of skin regeneration, skin whitening, and skin aging. He also supervised graduate research students including masters and Ph.D. students for their thesis research work. Dr. Wahedi has served as a Mentor for young STEM Leaders at the New York Academy of Sciences. Dr. Wahedi is also a member of the Open Innovation Council at Nine Sigma; a platform for the assessment of newly developed technologies. Dr. Wahedi is also contributing to the advancement of science through technical review of research manuscripts and research grant proposals.
