The work of GYA member Mai Tolba (Ain shams university, Egypt) was recently featured in an installment of the video series “The Next Big Thing” presented by the Futurium, a museum in Berlin, Germany, dedicated to the future. According to the Futurium website, the “Futurium is a House of Futures. Here, everything revolves around the question: how do we want to live? In th[is] exhibition, visitors can discover many possible futures; in the Forum, they can take part in open discussions; and, in the Futurium Lab, they can try out their own ideas.”

Mai’s work in pharmacology and cancer research helps improve the immune system’s ability to recognise cells that are currently resistant to normal cancer treatments.
