Led by the GYA Women in Science working group, a two-part online workshop “Inclusive Leadership for Women in Science”.
When:
3 September: 13:00-16:00 UTC, on zoom
4 September: 19:00-22:00 UTC, on zoom
Registration (until 2 September 10:00 UTC) and downloads below.
The virtual workshops have been designed in partnership with the facilitation team at Inclusive Innovation. They build on past GYA Inclusive Leadership workshops (read more about these workshops here), which focused on empathy, (self-)awareness and inclusive practices in research contexts. Building on this concept, with a particular focus on leadership for Women in Science, the upcoming workshops aim to empower women in research, and all those interested in supporting them.
Workshop design allows that you can join both or only one workshop, depending on your availability. If you cannot attend, there will be other ways to engage with the content and tools after the workshops have ended (either as recordings or worksheets).
These interactive, virtual sessions will be hosted on Zoom and will address the following topics:
Workshop 1: Finding Balance
Date: 3 September 2024 13:00-16:00 UTC
In the demanding field of science, young researchers often find themselves pulled in multiple directions, balancing professional ambitions with personal commitments. This workshop offers a professional application of the polarity thinking approach to help you achieve balance in various aspects of your life.
What you will gain from this session:
- A comprehensive understanding of polarity thinking.
- Tools to map and navigate your personal and professional polarities.
- Enhanced ability to balance work, life, self, and others for sustained well-being and success.
Workshop 2: Strategic Skills for Researchers
Date: 4 September 2024 19:00-22:00 UTC
Young researchers frequently need to make critical choices that can have a profound impact on their professional and personal lives. This, paired with the tendency to be self-reliant and a reluctance to seek help, creates a need for tools and skills that allow the strategic navigation of these (often complex and uncomfortable) spaces.
What you will gain from this session:
- Effective decision making tools that help maximize potential gains while minimizing possible risks.
- A personal and professional support network that you can call on and activate.
- The ability to deliberately grow and learn in ways that address imposter syndrome.
