Members from the GYA working group on Do-it-yourself Biology will participate in the second CILAC Forum (Latin America and Caribbean Open Science Forum) in Panama in October 2018, by organising a panel session on the “Do-it-yourself biology movement in Latin America as a driving force of innovation and entrepreneurship”.
The Global Young Academy (GYA) and the Interacademy Partnership (IAP) will convene a diverse group of interdisciplinary young scientists, from across the world, to participate in the CILAC conference, and in a one and a half day pre-conference Science Leadership training workshop on 20-21 October 2018.
The aim of the workshop is to equip participants with the necessary tools and skills to augment their impact in leading the charge to use science to meet the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. The workshop will build the leadership capacity of participants to engage in intergenerational dialogues on the role of science in policy; skills that will be put into practice in the main conference, with outcomes of discussions at the workshop feeding into several CILAC panels.
CILAC seeks to contribute to the design of a planetary strategy in favor of science’s role in sustainable development. Learn more about the Forum and all the parallel events that will take place during #CILAC18.
The Science Leadership Workshop will be attended by IAP selected participants and GYA members: Connie Nshemereirwe, Bart Kolodziejczyk, Alexander Kagansky, Abhi Veerakumarasivam, John Malone, Clarissa Rios Rojas, Daniel Limonta, Alex Godoy, Flavia Pires and Sandra Lopez Verges.
