The 2026 GYA Annual General Meeting (AGM) and International Conference of Young Scientists will take place from 30 June-3 July 2026, with pre-Conference workshops from 28-29 June 2026, at the Constructor University, in Bremen, Germany.

The 2026 International Conference of Young Scientists will focus on the topic “Machine Intelligence for Society and for all Sciences”. Machine intelligence – or AI – is rapidly transforming how research is done and what it can achieve, while at the same time affecting all other areas of society and individual lives.

The panels and discussions in this International Conference will aim to bring together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from all disciplines and from around the world to explore how AI and machine learning can drive progress across disciplines – from climate science and medicine to economics and education. The Conference will also address the myriad of challenges associated with machine learning: ethical, equitable, and societal impacts.

About the GYA AGM & Conference

Every year (since 2011), GYA members convene in an Annual General Meeting (AGM), organised together with an International Conference of Young Scientists. 100 to 150 early- to mid-career researchers from around the world come together with international senior science leaders, policy makers and stakeholders, as well as guests from the host country and early-career researchers from young academies to lead evidence-based, interdisciplinary and intergenerational dialogue. The total number of conference participants is around 150-200. The meetings alternately take place in low- and middle-income and high-income countries – the 2026 meeting will take place hosted at Constructor University, Bremen, Germany.
The GYA AGM fosters connections that motivate members to tackle cross-disciplinary, international projects across distances. Capacity building is another key part of AGMs, providing crucial skill-sets to future leaders. AGMs provide opportunities for GYA members to learn from one another and collaborate on science advice, science leadership, and science communication.
