Synaptic plasticity and Memory; Synthetic Biology

Cristian is an Associate Professor of Physiology at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore School of Medicine in Rome, Italy. From 2020, he also served as Researcher of the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS where he is selected to be a member of the Institutional Translational Board. His research focuses on how synaptic plasticity influences neuronal signaling and in elucidating the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying learning and memory in the mammalian brain. He attended the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting 2011 as a Young Scientist nominee of the Fondazione Cariplo. In 2014, he obtained a New Investigator Research Grant from the Alzheimer’s Association (PI) and a Young Research Grant (YRG) from the Italian Ministry of Health (coPI). In 2015, he obtained a Travel Award to attend the 38th Annual Meeting of the Japan Neuroscience Society, and in 2016 a JSPS Fellowship for Overseas Researchers. In 2018, he obtained the YRG from the Italian Ministry of Health as a PI. He is the recipient of the 2018 Fondazione Roche Neuroscience Award.
