GYA Executive Committee member Koen Vermeir (France) was an expert at a meeting of the Group of Chief Scientific Advisors of the European Union. Koen co-founded the GYA Science Advice Working Group and has been active as an expert and science advisor.
This meeting brought together a small number of high-level participants – science advisors, practitioners and policy makers – and will serve a sounding board to the Group of Chief Scientific Advisors’ forthcoming Scientific Opinion on ‘Making sense of science under conditions of complexity and uncertainty’.
The Group of Chief Scientific Advisors provides independent advice to the college of European Commissioners in any area of policy making. With this meeting, the Group aims to gain critical insights into emerging areas for possible recommendations on the question of ‘How to provide good science advice to EC policymakers, based on available evidence, under conditions of scientific complexity and uncertainty’.
