Biography

Dr. Yalinu Poya is a highly motivated chemist and an enthusiastic early-career academic with experience in green chemistry research and broad teaching experience in higher education. She holds a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Papua New Guinea (PNG), a MSc in Inorganic Chemistry from the Northeast Normal University (China), and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Glasgow (UK). Dr. Poya also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) from the University of Liverpool (UK), and professional teaching qualification and global recognition as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). She has Certifications in Climate Change: Transforming your Organization for Sustainability from The Open University (UK) and Energy from Biomass from the University of Aberdeen (UK). Dr. Poya is currently undertaking Economics in Renewable Energy from the Heriot-Watt University (UK) and is a participant in the Oxford School of Climate change (Hilary 2024).

Dr. Poya is a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and plays a role in spreading scientific knowledge amongst people of all ages and backgrounds, fosters mentorship with people who have an interest in STEM, and encourages all who want to develop their passion for chemistry. Dr. Yalinu Poya is a Lecturer in Environmental Science in the School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences (CEPS) at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS).
