GYA member Suraj Bhattarai spoke at a Regional Research Grants Workshop titled ‘Building Skills for Scientific Research’. The three-day workshop in June was organized by The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), in Kathmandu, Nepal. Over 40 TWAS Research Grant awardees from Asia and Latin America attended the workshop.
Suraj Bhattarai was invited to speak at the conference on the topic ‘Importance of Scientific Writing’, where he represented the Global Young Academy (GYA) as its member, and his home institution the Global Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies (GIIS) as its Chair of Global health and medical research programme. GIIS was also the local partner for this TWAS conference. TWAS provides individual and collaborative research grants to promising scientists from developing countries with support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), the Italian Government, and the UNESCO.
