From 30 January to 2 February 2015 the In-Person Meeting of the GYA Executive Committee (EC) took place in the GYA office at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Berlin (BBAW).
After meetings with representatives of the GYA host academies BBAW and Leopoldina, in which we discussed the future of the GYA and modalities of cooperation with these institutions, the whole EC and GYA staff convened for a productive work session on the upcoming AGM in Canada, strategies for membership engagement and activities for new members, the GYA alumni policy, GYA projects, funding and the GYA vision. The end of the meeting was marked by a visit at TuWaS!, a Berlin based organization supporting science education in primary schools following the Swedish model. In addition, GYA Co-Chairs Eva Alisic and Sameh Soror and Managing Director Heidi Wedel met with the Berlin based GYA Advisory Board members Prof. Dr. Jürgen Kocka (BBAW member) and Prof. Dr. Helmut Schwarz (President of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and Leopoldina member).
