Biography

Dr. Marco Peccianti is member of the GYA since 2013. He is Reader in Physics at the University of Sussex where he directs the Emergent Photonics Lab (EPIC) and he is convenor of the Master of Science in Frontiers of Quantum Technology. He has authored of more than 280 scientific contributions, including 93 publications in the most reputed international journals (Nature, Nature Photonics, Nature Physics,  Nature Communications, Physical Review Letters, etc.) and about 194 communications to international conferences (Including 54 invited talks), with more than 4000 citations (H-index 36) and a number of Book-chapters and International Patents.
His research interests transversely span the field of Photonics and Optoelectronics, and includes Ultrafast Laser Science, Terahertz Waves and Optical Clocks.

He is a reviewer pool member of funding agencies such as the European Science Foundation, the Italian Ministry of the Education and University, the French National Research Agency the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.

He is editorial board member of the journal Scientific Reports (Nature Publishing Group).
He is/was supervisor of many students and the MSc and PhD level, and promoter of student exchanges within a vast research network that includes the UK, Canada, Italy, France, Saudi Arabia, Australia. As member of the GYA, he is contributing to the Open Science group to the analysis of the Open Access and Open Data frameworks, towards the identification of guidelines for policy-makers. He is also part of the Global Access to Research Software group to enhance the access to critical software resources in developing countries and he is member of the GYA selection committee.
