Biography

Jude Kimengsi is Leader of the Research Group on Forest Institutions and International Development (FIID) at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Technische Universität Dresden (Germany), and an Associate Professor in Resource and Environmental Geography at the University of Bamenda. He is also the Principal Investigator for an on-going German Research Foundation (DFG) project on sustainable forest management in Cameroon. Between 2017 and 2019, Jude served as Excellence Initiative Postdoctoral Research and Teaching Fellow at the TU-Dresden. Prior to this, he was Senior Lecturer/Researcher and Head of Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at CATUC. He was later promoted to Director of Research in the same university. Between 2012 and 2015, Jude worked as Consultant on Sustainable Development and Coordinator of Research, Consultancy and Publications Division at the Pan African Institute for Development – West Africa. He was Expert Reviewer of the First Order Draft (FOD) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC’s) Sixth Assessment Report. He is Associate Editor for Nature (Social Sciences), published by Springer, Guest Editor for the journal Forest Policy and Economics (Elsevier), and an Editor with Scientific African Journal (Elsevier). Between 2019 and 2021, Jude Kimengsi served as Course Facilitator and field supervisor for Erasmus Mundus International Masters spring and summer courses organized by the University of Copenhagen (Denmark), Technical University of Dresden (Germany), Agroparis Tech (Montpellier-France), Bangor University (UK) and the University of Padova (Italy).  Since 2018, he been serving as facilitator at a United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) International Postgraduate Course on Environmental Management for Developing Countries. He has served as Lead Consultant for the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Mensen met een Missie (Netherlands), African Wildlife Foundation (AWF), World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and the GIZ on conservation, livelihoods and development projects. Jude is a University of Cologne/DAAD/DIES Regional Expert on research grant proposal writing where he has intervened in several African countries including Namibia, Senegal, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Nigeria, Togo and the DRC. As a University of Potsdam NMT Trainer on project proposal writing, he has served in a many African countries. Jude is a pioneer Fellow of the Cameroon Academy of Young Scientists (CAYS), an Associate Fellow of the African Academy of Sciences, and a Board Member of the Global Environmental Non-Migration Network.
