Winner of L’Oréal UNESCO for Women in Science Young Talent 2021, and recipient of the entrepreneurship Agrytech Grants award 2021, ACT Smart Innovation Hub, Berytech, Hiba N. Rajha is an AGYA member and technical staff in the Bestmedgrape, ENI CBC Med European project.

Throughout her 9 years of experience as a faculty member, Hiba N. Rajha gained, next to teaching abilities in the fields of Process Engineering and Biochemistry, significant skills in leadership/entrepreneurship, and interdisciplinary knowledge in research and industrial expertise.

She participated in 26+ international and national conferences where she presented her research topics and received many prizes. Her research interest is mainly focused on the recovery of bioactive molecules from food wastes, using emerging technologies such as pulsed electric fields, ultrasounds, high-voltage electrical discharges, ultrasounds, infrared, etc. Biomolecules are then nano-encapsulated and studied for skin diseases and cancer. She published more than 45 papers in international peer-reviewed journals (h-index 26; citations 2137), contributed in authoring 4 book chapters, and co-invented 6 patents regarding innovative technologies for extraction of sensitive bioactive constituents from biological matrices.

Her process engineering know-how allowed her to closely work with many industries on the development of new products, waste management strategy, quality control of the products, and process optimization to improve quality and productivity while lowering production costs. Her proficiency also encompasses industrial consultancy in terms of incubation and initiation to entrepreneurship, from laboratory to market. She is the holder of three Lebanese Industrial Research Achievements LIRA awards (2016 and 2022) for the industrial application of her research.
