GYA member Koen Vermeir (France) represented the GYA Open Science working group at the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF), the largest interdisciplinary science meeting in Europe. Koen presented during a plenary panel discussion titled ‘Opening up Open Science: Innovations, Ideas and Possibilities’, along with GYA Advisory Board member Yuko Harayama, as well as Kamila Markram (Frontiers) and Robert-Jan Smits (European Commission) on the urgency to start talking about ‘good open science’.
Drawing on analytic and practical approaches from experts with extensive government and academic experience, the goal of the panel was to discuss many of the most promising ideas for taking ‘Open Science’ from an aspirational slogan to an implementable reality, and why we need open science to unlock the potential of science for economic growth and sustainable societies.
