Koen Vermeir (France), GYA Co-Chair and past co-lead of the Open Science Working Group, attended the Open Science Coordination in Europe meeting in Helsinki on 21 October, where the new network of national open science coordinators was inaugurated.
Koen also represented the GYA at the meeting of the Open Science Policy Platform (OSPP) of the European Commission on 22 October, also in Helsinki. The OSPP is the High Level Group that advises the Commission on how to develop open science policy.
Koen presented the result of the OSPP Task Force on Open Science Indicators. Indicators that can help measure open science achievements are a controversial topic and the GYA has advocated against prescriptive measures. Instead, we presented a bottom-up solution that facilitates the sharing of best practices.
