In February, GYA Co-Chair Koen Vermeir (CNRS, France), who used to co-lead the working group on Open Science, delivered the opening keynote speech at the meeting on “Changing publication practices – From predatory to Plan S” organized by the Belgian Young Academy (Jonge Academie) and the Belgian Academy of Medicine at the Palace of the Academies in Brussels, Belgium. Koen made the speech into an interactive conversation with the audience and discussed Plan S, Transformative Agreements, the relation between research assessment and open science, and the future of academic publishing, all based on the input from the public.
