The GYA benefits from its global network of alumni, and currently involves alumni in particular in the following areas:
- Mentorship
- Fundraising
- Capacity building
- Selection of new members
- Representation of GYA
- Promotion of GYA
With an outgoing members exit survey, we want to better understand your situation, needs and preferences, in order to more effectively engage with you, the growing GYA alumni community.
The GYA communicates with members and alumni through many channels (e-mail, opportunities digest, newsletter, social media, press releases, etc)
The GYA Office has set up a contact database, which will help us streamline communication with members, alumni and external contacts – and we aim to create more communication options for alumni in the future.Â
We aim to make alumni opportunities – to continue to benefit from and contribute to the GYA network – more transparent on the GYA website and in GYA communications.
What impact does the GYA have on its members, how does that affect the careers of its alumni?
How can the GYA showcase the achievements of its alumni, to attract new, excellent members and promote and motivate the advancement of other young scientists?
One answer is to STRENGTHEN YOUR ONLINE VISIBILITY:
We strongly encourage you to strengthen your online visibility by updating your ORCID profile (mentioning Global Young Academy in it) and by uploading a picture on WikiCommons and letting us know about it in cc. Journalists can then use this to write a Wikipedia article about you. Contact  if you have any questions about this.
We also encourage members and alumni to keep your GYA profiles as updated as your Linked-In or other social media profiles, so that you are searchable within the GYA network and beyond. The GYA increasingly receives informal requests from organizations to name experts in specific fields: the more up-to-date your profile is, the easier we can connect you to opportunities.
