Biography
Dr Gary Kerr is an Associate Professor within the Business School at Edinburgh Napier University. As a multidisciplinary researcher, Gary holds a first PhD in Biology and a second PhD in Critical Event Studies with Science Communication, where he critically examined the role of science festivals in society and the leadership of science festivals across the UK. He leads a multidisciplinary research team examining how festivals, events, cultural venues and visitor attractions can become more accessible for people living with dementia. His research is broadly based around accessibility and strategic leadership in the context of festivals and cultural organisations.
Gary has an Executive MBA in Sport Management from the Real Madrid Graduate School. He is a Director of Newmilns Snow and Sports Complex (the UK’s only charity ski slope). He is also Chair of the Board of Trustees at Sonic Bothy – an organisation that brings together musicians with an additional learning needs to explore, compose and perform contemporary music. Gary is a Member of the Young Academy of Scotland.
