GYA EC member Sandra López-Vergès (Panama) and Research Assistant for the Global State of Young Scientists (GloSYS) Africa project, Matt Keane, will participate in a regional conference for young scientists, co-organized by the Brazilian Academy of Sciences in a partnership with The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) Young Affiliates Network (TYAN) and its Latin American and Caribbean Representation (TWAS-LACREP).
The meeting will be a multidisciplinary international meeting bringing together talented young scientists to discuss their scientific work, and the constraints and challenges for the development of Science in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). Participants will also discuss the regional science funding landscape and an action plan for TYAN-LACREP. GYA representatives aim to strengthen ties to organizations supporting young scientists in the LAC region, in support of its goal to research the state of young scientists in LAC through a GloSYS LAC project, as well as nascent ideas to launch a Science Leadership Programme in the region.
