The AAAS and TWAS are inviting applications for their annual Science Diplomacy course, taking place 20-23 July 2026 in Trieste, Italy. Established in 2014, this program trains scientists, decisionmakers, and diplomats in science diplomacy concepts, focusing on global policy issues in science, technology, environment, and health. Over 300 emerging leaders from 50+ countries have participated so far. Applications are open to all countries, with priority and financial support given to underrepresented nations.
To strengthen the connection between scientists and governmental officials, decisionmakers and diplomats, applications to attend the course are being invited from ‘participant pairs’. For more information about this innovative model for science diplomacy training, see this article written by the organizing team. Early-career scientists applicants are encouraged to check with their supervisor and/or leadership of their home institute for suggestions on possible, suitable co-applicants from the policymaking arena. Applications that do not identify a participant partner will not be considered.
