As a nominating partner of the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, the GYA also nominated young scientists to take part in the 8th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting on Economic Sciences. Post-doc Angélica Maza Albores (Faculty of Economics, UNAM) was nominated by GYA alumna Alma Hernández Mondragón (Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute, Mexico) and invited to take part in the week-long meeting, which included exchange with 20 Nobel Laureates and excellent students and early-career researchers from around the world.
These meetings provide valuable networking opportunities and international perspective, as well as inspiration for participants.
Angélica reported : “The 8th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Economic Sciences offered me a profoundly enriching experience, not only in the field of Economics but also through valuable lessons for my growth as young scientist. Thanks to this meeting, the dialogue with diverse voices on the current problems of society brings us closer to resolving them through economic science. At the same time, the limited representation of young researchers from Latin America highlights how much progress remains to be made toward greater participation of this region in international spaces like the Lindau Nobel Meetings.”
