As an Affiliate Member of the International Science Council, the GYA is delighted to announce the appointment of six GYA members and alumni as part of the second cohort of ISC-fellows.
At the World Science Forum in Capetown, South Africa, the International Science Council announced 60 new ISC Fellows on 5 December 2022. The second cohort of ISC Fellows includes eminent social and natural scientists, engineers and thought-leaders who have made impactful contributions in the science-policy sphere.
As GYA nominees, we are happy to see GYA Executive Committee member Encieh Erfani (Iran) as well as Immediate Past Co-Chair Michael Saliba (University of Stuttgart, Germany) named ISC Fellows. Furthermore, we congratulate GYA alumni Olanike Adeyemo (Nigerian Academy of Science, Nigeria), Past Co-Chair Eva Alisic (University of Melbourne, Australia), Past Co-Chair Orakanoke Phanraksa (Thailand Science Research and Innovation, Thailand) and Binyam Sisu Mendisu (The Africa Institute, Ethiopia).

The ISC Fellowship recognizes individuals for their outstanding contributions to the promotion of science as a global public good. The Fellowship is the highest honour that can be conferred on an individual by the International Science Council. Through their scientific leadership and work to promote science in the public domain, the ISC Fellows will support the ISC’s mission to act as the global voice for science. GYA and the International Science Council
Since April 2020, the GYA has been an Affiliate Member of the International Science Council (ISC). The ISC brings together the natural and social sciences through over 170 international scientific unions and associations, as well as national and regional scientific organisations, including academies and research councils. As global science organisations, both the GYA and the ISC seek to advance science as a global public good.
