We are happy to announce good news from our membership. Several of our members received awards lately. Our co-chair Sameh Soror and the EC-member Ghada Bassioni received State Awards from Egypt
The State Awards are the highest scientific recognition in Egypt in different disciplines: basic sciences, chemical sciences, biological sciences, engineering and medical sciences. Sameh Soror received the State Award for advanced technological sciences (medical field) and Ghada Bassioni received the State Award for chemical sciences.
Federico Rosei will receive the 2014 José Vasconcelos World Award of Education from the World Cultural Council. The prize is awarded for his career both within the Chemical Sciences and as an advocate of a global approach to societal development through scientific knowledge and innovation, inspiring and educating people. The award will be handed over on 17 November 2014.
Last but not least Yusuf Baran was elected to the Executive Committee of The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBITAK). TÜBITAK is the leading agency for management, funding and conduct of research and development in Turkey. It acts as an advisory agency to the Turkish Government on science and research issues, and is the secretariat of the Supreme Council for Science and Technology. Moreover Yusuf Baran was received the “Outstanding Young Scientist Award” by the Science Heroes Association in Turkey.
