Biography
Dr. Tariq Khan is an interdisciplinary researcher working at the interface of nanoscience, biotechnology, and nanomaterial-cell interactions. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Biotechnology and a former Fulbright Scholar. He completed his doctoral training in nanoscience and subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at Duke University, where his work focused on the interaction of nanomaterials with biological systems.
Dr. Khan’s research centers on the design and biological evaluation of nanomaterials for biomedical and environmental applications. His work has explored metallic nanoparticles as next-generation antimicrobial agents against antibiotic-resistant bacteria, the interaction of nanosurfaces with pathogenic microbes, and the immunomodulatory effects of advanced materials. He is particularly interested in understanding how material properties at the nanoscale influence cellular responses, inflammation pathways, and disease progression. His recent work also investigates polymeric nanoparticles and apoptotic bodies in the context of immune-mediated diseases.
With over a decade of teaching and mentoring experience, Dr. Khan is deeply committed to academic capacity building and the development of young scientists. He has supervised undergraduate and graduate research projects and actively promotes research culture through seminars, student engagement initiatives, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
As a member of the Global Young Academy, Dr. Khan seeks to contribute to global scientific dialogue on responsible innovation, equitable research partnerships, and science-driven policy development. His broader vision is to bridge advanced materials research with global health challenges while strengthening research ecosystems in developing regions.
