Biography

Sherif Faruk El-Khamisy, PhD was graduated from the faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University in 1997. He studied MSc at Ain Shams University, Egypt and concluded his PhD at the University of Sussex in 2005. Since then Sherif has been an assistant professor of Biochemistry at the faculty of pharmacy Ain Shams University and has exploited several research funding opportunities in the UK to investigate the molecular mechanisms of DNA repair. Sherif’s main research interest focuses on discovering novel players and processes in the DNA damage response to understand how mammalian cells repair DNA breaks and why defects in these processes lead to cancer, neurodegeneration, and aging. His work has resulted in papers published in Nature and in Cell.
