Assistant Professor and Researcher of the Institute for Political Studies – Catholic University of Portugal teaching several courses on the BA, MA and PhD programmes.PhD Thesis (2005): «International Society, Standard of Civilisation, and the Abolition of the Death Penalty: the United Nations and China» under the supervision of Professor Robert F. Dernberger (Univ. Michigan) and António Vasconcellos de Saldanha (ISCSP-UTL).MSc International Relations of Asia and Africa, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), Univ. LondonSince March 2006 Member of the Executive Committee of the Portuguese Political Science Association.Present research interests: human rights (in particular freedom of religion and death penalty), Chinese foreign policy, Central Asia and Asia-Pacific region.
