Physics/photonics: Novel particle acceleration technologies and applications

Biography

P. Antici studies Electrical Engineering at the Roma University “Sapienza”. After a period as Consultant and Chief Technological Director in industry, he obtained a Ph.D. in Laser-driven particle acceleration from the Ecole Polytechnique (France) and a Ph.D. in Novel accelerator technologies from the University “Sapienza”. He has worked at the Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics, the University of Rome “Sapienza” and since joined the Institut National de Recherche Scientifique. His research interests are novel accelerator technologies and applications, in particular laser-driven proton and electron acceleration for applications in the High Energy Density Physics, Material Science, Medical field and Cultural Heritage. Besides scientific production, he was strongly active in the field of Scientific Management: he was member of the Steering

Committee of the FP7 EuroFEL-PP project (linking all major Free Electron Lasers in Europe), member of the Executive Board of a large Laser Infrastructure (Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI) – FP7 Preparatory Phase) – responsible of Communication/Dissemination and Financing or the project (the project is currently funded with about ~850 M€); co-chair of a European Network (FP7 CRISP) involving most of the biggest European Research infrastructures in the field of Physics and Analytical sciences.
