Biography
Dr. Noor Shaila Sarmin currently working as Professor in the Dept. of Agroforestry and Environment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Gazipur, a public University in Bangladesh. Additionally, she is serving as “Head of Department” of the Dept. of Environmental Hazard and Disaster Management of the same University. She is also serving as one of the faculty members in the newly formed department “Agrometeorology” in BSMRAU funded by the World Bank and the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Bangladesh.
In 2013, Sarmin was awarded a full scholarship from the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), and in 2017 she was awarded her Ph.D. degree specialization in “Forest Management and Conservation” from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). In 2018, her thesis was awarded as the best thesis in the Faculty of Forestry at UPM.
Professionally, Dr. Sarmin has more than 16 years of experience in teaching, research, and different administrative jobs. She is undertaking BS and MS-level courses in the field of Agroforestry and Environment. She has completed several research projects funded by the Research Management Wing (RMW) of BSMRAU and the University Grant Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh. As an administrative job, Dr. Sarmin has served as Assistant Provost and Provost in students’ dormitory for several times and durations authorized by the University administration.
Dr. Sarmin has published 27 research articles in different national and international Journals. She has attended different national and international trainings, conferences, seminars, and symposiums.
