Biography
Nathalie was born in Vienna, Austria. She received a PhD from the University Paris 6 (France) in 2004, working on scanning probe microscopy of molecular self-assemblies. She then joined the group of Prof. Ben Feringa at the University of Groningen (the Netherlands), where she extended her research interests to the self-assembly of artificial motors and switches. In 2008 she joined the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS Toulouse, France) as Associate Researcher, where she has built further expertise in soft matter, in particular in light-responsive chiral liquid crystals. Nathalie joined the University of Twente in 2013 and is Adjunct Professor since 2015. Her research interests include the design, synthesis and operation of molecular machines, and the development of bio-inspired and smart materials, with a special focus on the interactions between light and matter.
