Dr. Engr. Naim Rashid is a Fulbright Research Scientist at Arizona State University, USA. He also works as Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Pakistan. Prior to this role, he worked as a Research Scholar at University of California, San Diego, USA and University of Leipzig, Germany. Early on, he served as Assistant Professor of Environmental Sciences at Quaid-i-Azam University, Pakistan.
Naim earned PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Republic of Korea. He trained himself as an Environmental Engineer and passionate to work on Energy-Water-Environmental Resource Conservation nexus. He has particular interest in waste-to-energy technologies to promote environmental sustainability and green economy. To this end, he has developed expertise in bioprocess, biochemical, and microbiological engineering to work on wastewater ecology, water treatment, algal biotechnology and bio-refinery, microbial fuel cell, and bio-remediation. More recently, he is working onto a theme “Resource recovery from wastewater for value added bio-refinery products and to support bio-economy”.
Prevailing aggravated yet interrelated issues in his native country (Pakistan) on energy, health and environmental management inspired him to select these themes for future research He is a strong believer of social engagement, capacity building, and collaborative work. He is keen to translate social and industrial problems into research, and to promote industry-academia joint research.
