Benedict Molibeli Taele

Biography

Molibeli Taele obtained his B.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics (1991) and B.Sc. (Honours) in Mathematics (1992) from the National University of Lesotho. He followed this with a postgraduate Diploma in Physics and Electronics (1993), an M.Sc. in Semiconductor Devices (1994) and a PhD in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics (2000) from the University of Lancaster, UK. His PhD research focused on III-V Semiconductor Hopping Bolometers for Non-Equilibrium Phonons and Astroparticles Detection.Dr. Taele is currently a Senior Lecturer in Physics and Electronics at the National University of Lesotho, where his main research interests lie in the area of physics and characterization of basic materials and devices for photovoltaic applications, with particular interest in CdTe thin-film solar cells grown by close-space sublimation techniques. His research activities also include fabrication, physics and characterisation of low temperature semiconductor phonon-mediated detectors, solar energy conversion and development of renewable energy systems. Dr. Taele has published more than 12 papers in peer reviewed international scientific journals and presented his results at a number of regional and international conferences.He has held visiting research positions at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Italy (June to August 2007), where he carried out theoretical research on renewable energy systems and solar energy conversion, and at the University of Durham, UK (October 2005 to March 2006) where he carried out experimental research on the fabrication and characterization of CdTe thin- film solar cells.
