Biography
Mohammad J. Abdel-Rahman earned his Ph.D. in November 2014 from the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at The University of Arizona. Currently, he works as an Associate Professor with the Data Science Department at Princess Sumaya University for Technology since October 2022. Additionally, he serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor with the ECE Department at Virginia Tech since January 2018.
Previously, from January 2015 to September 2017, he served as a Research Faculty Member at the ECE Department at Virginia Tech. Between October 2017 and October 2022, he worked at Al Hussein Technical University (HTU) as an Assistant and later Associate Professor with the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Departments (joint appointment). During his time at HTU, he held various positions of leadership, including the Inaugural Chair of the Electrical Engineering Department from October 2018 to March 2022 and the Director of the Wireless Networks and Security Research Laboratory from April 2019 to October 2022.
Dr. Abdel-Rahman’s research interests lie in the integration of artificial intelligence/machine learning and operations research in the fields of communications, networking, energy, healthcare, and transportation. During his Ph.D. study, he received the College of Engineering Outstanding Graduate Student Award. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a Member of the Global Young Academy. Currently, he is an Associate Editor of IEEE Access, an Editor of Wireless Personal Communications (Springer Nature), a reviewer of several international journals, and a Technical Program Committee Member of several international conferences.
