The Global Young Academy (GYA) was founded in 2010 with the vision to give a voice to young scientists around the world. The GYA empowers early-career researchers to lead international and interdisciplinary initiatives and projects, and to engage in intergenerational dialogue by developing and mobilising talent from six continents. The academy is hosted at the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina.

Student Assistant (m/f/d) for Conference Organisation

Job description

Conference Organisation

  • Tasks in the administrative conference management like participant registration, developing accommodation lists, assistance in international travel booking, personalisation of automated visa letters, etc.
  • Tasks related to conference and overall communication and reporting on the website and in different social media, e.g. producing speakers’ profiles on the website, updating digital conference programmes, producing social media cards for speakers or conference panels etc.

Administrative and Communication Assistance

  • Content publication in WordPress (using Elementor)
  • Compiling and producing the weekly opportunities newsletter to members
  • Compiling and updating of lists and other administrative tasks

Job requirements

  • Ongoing academic education
  • Experience in organisational tasks, preferably proven through earlier work in event organisation
  • Basic skills in media design (experience with the Adobe Illustrator preferred but not mandatory)
  • Experience with website CMS, preferably WordPress (and Elementor)
  • Fluent command of English
  • International interest and experience, intercultural sensitivity and competencies, good written and verbal communication skills, creativity, good presentation and self-organisation

The position comprises 10 hours per week. The hourly remuneration is €13.98 for Bachelor’s students and €14.59 for Master’s students; a completed university degree is not required.
