Biography
Jia Chen heads the Environmental Sensing and Modeling Group in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Technical University of Munich (TUM). She is also an associate in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Harvard University. Her research focuses on climate change and urban air pollution. She develops novel sensors, methods, and atmospheric models to localize and quantify greenhouse gas emissions and to understand the metabolism of air pollutants in urban environments. Previously, Jia Chen was a postdoctoral researcher at Harvard University. She received her Diploma and Doctorate, in electrical engineering, from University Karlsruhe and TUM, respectively. Jia Chen has authored and co-authored 2 books and 2 book chapters, 66 peer-reviewed journal and 137 conference publications. Further, she has filed 12 patents, of which 9 are international patents.
