Biography
Haruka Ono is an associate professor in the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan. She received her BSc, MSc and PhD in Engineering from the University of Tokyo. As an urban engineering researcher, she has conducted research in Japan, Africa, and other Asian nations.
She was a Vice President at Urban Design Center Matsuyama, which is a practical urban design platform for public-private-academic collaboration to revitalize Matsuyama City center. As an expert, she has been involved in promoting collaboration among local stakeholders and urban design works.
She is the Secretary of the Urban and Regional Design Branch Meeting and the Automated Driving Branch Meeting at the Science Council of Japan (SCJ). She is also the Secretary of the Young Academy of Japan under SCJ. She played a central role in the launch of the Japanese Association for the Advancement of Science (JAAS) as its first Representative Director. JAAS is a non-profit organization for promoting science and is composed of a broader range of members, including citizens.
