GYA members contribute to global learning science at UNESCO

GYA members Anh-Duc Hoang (RMIT University Vietnam) and Fun Man Fung (University College Dublin) participated in the second Annual Meeting of the UNESCO Global Alliance on the Science of Learning for Education (GSoLEN) at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris in December 2025. The gathering brought together scientists, policymakers, practitioners, and development partners to advance the translation of scientific knowledge on learning into actionable educational policies and practices.

Anh-Duc’s presentation addressed a fundamental challenge in educational knowledge translation: converting controlled experimental findings into practical classroom strategies and policy frameworks. He shared systematic approaches developed through his work with stakeholders in Vietnam and UNESCO, demonstrating how laboratory evidence can inform national curriculum design, assessment policies, and teacher professional development programs. His work exemplifies effective knowledge brokering between the scientific community and educational stakeholders across diverse cultural contexts.

The meeting served as a crucial platform for developing the UNESCO-GSoLEN guiding framework to strengthen knowledge brokering between the science of learning and education at the national and global levels. Participants engaged in consultative workshops to identify gaps in institutional infrastructure and human resources needed for more effective knowledge translation in education. The Alliance continues its mission to democratize access to learning science research, with plans to develop comprehensive action groups for fostering the science of learning globally, ensuring that evidence-based practices reach classrooms and shape educational policies worldwide.
