GYA members Ghada Bassioni, Marc Creus and Managing Director Heidi Wedel held a GYA session on “Excellent Young Scientists Aiming to Change the World” at the 64th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting on 2 July 2014.
Approximately 400 young researchers from all over the world participated at the session. After a brief introduction of the GYA – who we are, what we do and how we do it – by Heidi Wedel, Marc Creus and Ghada Bassioni delivered personal accounts as GYA members, conveying their enthusiasm for the GYA to the young researchers present in the audience. Marc Creus demonstrated the importance of science outreach and engaging with society at large and encouraged young scientists in the audience to communicate the importance of science to the broader society. Ghada Bassioni talked about her own experiences at the Nobel Laureates Meeting 2012 as a first step towards GYA membership.
The three GYA representatives moreover participated in the Academic Partners Gathering. This event offered a great opportunity to communicate with a number of important science organizations from different parts of the world.
