Research Interests

Francesco Stellacci is a materials scientist (Politecnico di Milano, ’98) with a postdoctoral experience in Chemistry at the University of Arizona where he worked with Prof. Joe Perry. He started his academic career as a faculty member at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and then moved as a full professor at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) always in materials science departments. His interests are in solid liquid interfaces, supramolecular chemistry, and nanotechnology. His group tries to use the tools of supramolecular chemistry to create nanomaterials that have unique properties. The main fields of applications are health and environment. Stellacci has published more than 100 papers and has more than 15 patent applications. He has won numerous awards, among the the Technology Review TR35 ’top innovator under 35’, the Popular Science Magazine ’Brilliant 10’, and the EMRS EU40.
