Biography
Charisma is currently a UKRI Future Leaders Fellow and Associate Professor at the University of Leeds (UoL). She leads the Choice Modelling group in her school and is Deputy-Director of the interdisciplinary Choice Modelling Centre. She is also an Honorary Visiting Professor at Beijing Jiatong University, China.
Prior to joining UoL, she was an Assistant Professor in her alma mater Department of Civil Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. She completed her Msc and PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2005 and 2007 respectively. She has recently been awarded the Gordon Newell Memorial Prize 2010 for her doctoral dissertation. She is also recipient of Honorable Mention of the Eric Pas Dissertation Award, Martin Family Society for Sustainability Fellowship, MIT Presidential Fellowship and Malik Akram Hossain Gold Medal.Her research interests include demand modeling and discrete choice analysis, traffic simulation, public transportation, sustainable transport and energy systems, transportation in developing countries.
